Turn your passion for writing into a profitable career as a professional writer or editor.
Print Futures: Professional Writing will prepare you to work as a skilled writer or editor in many sectors of the economy.Our faculty teach foundational studies in research, writing, editing, and document design and production, as well as mandatory courses in interpersonal communication, professional readiness, and work experience.
Our graduates integrate theory and practice, draw on a wide repertoire of skills and knowledge, and are committed to collaborative work, ethical practice, and professional excellence. Graduates work as magazine writers, corporate communicators, public relations specialists, journalists, technical writers, copy editors, proofreaders, freelance writers, documentation specialists, communication consultants, information officers, communication coordinators, and more.

Grads win Julia Broderick Scholarship
Crystal Auffray (Print Futures Class of 2009) is the recipient of this year's Julia Broderick Scholarship, sponsored by the Canada West Coast Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. Amanda Lee (also Class of 2009) received an honourable mention in the scholarship competition.
Reporter and editor Liam Britten earns community-newspaper award
Liam
Britten wins the 2009 scholarship for an outstanding student in Print
Futures who intends to pursue work as a community journalist. This
award is presented at the annual luncheon of the British Columbia and
Yukon Community Newspaper Association. Liam is editor of The Other Press and a freelance reporter for community newspapers.
