Submit to Inked

Inked is an online collection of work by current and past participants in Print Futures at Douglas College. Reading the articles on this website will give you an idea of the type of work we feature.

Please read the following submission guidelines carefully.

  1. We accept work from current and past Print Futures students. Priority is given to current students.
  2. We are looking for compelling and inspired pieces, in any genre, that highlight the four key aspects of the Print Futures Program -- research, writing, editing, and design. We also accept artwork and photographs that enhance written submissions.
  3. We accept submissions based on student assignments.
  4. We accept book or manuscript excerpts to a maximum of 1,500 words. Please do not submit entire books or manuscripts.
  5. We accept simultaneously/previously published submissions.
  6. Depending on the genre, the recommended submission length is between 200 and 1,500 words. Word-count guidelines are not meant to constrain writing, but we do reserve the right to edit your work.
  7. You may submit up to three items a year.
  8. Items selected for publication may include a brief author bio (limited to 50 words), email address, and webpage link. Please provide these details with your submission if you wish to have them included.
  9. Contributors will not be paid for their submissions.
  10. Email submissions to printfutures@douglas.bc.ca with the phrase "Inked Submission" in the subject line. Text submissions will only be accepted in the form of Word (.docx) attachments. Work must be double-spaced with no indentation. Your name should not appear on any part of your work except on the email accompanying your submission.
  11. If submitting photographs or artwork, we accept soft-copy images only. Please set your scanner or digital camera to meet the following criteria: no smaller than 3", 150 dpi or greater, and .eps, .jpeg, or .tiff format.
  12. The author must provide any reference sources used and is responsible for ensuring the factual accuracy of the material.
  13. Queries are not necessary but are appreciated. Send queries to printfutures@douglas.bc.ca with the phrase "Inked Query" in the subject line.
  14. Publication in Inked is one-time-only. Copyright remains with the student.
