The Theatre Program and Stagecraft & Event Technology (SET) Program at Douglas College offer students a unique learning experience preparing them for the entertainment industry. The programs are interconnected so students collaborate throughout the year to put on fully produced shows either in an acting role or from a stagecraft perspective.
Theatre Program
Douglas College's Theatre program doesn't just provide you with the skills to succeed as an actor. You'll gain knowledge about yourself, learn how to communicate and work as part of an ensemble -- skills that are greatly in demand in every workplace -- and gain confidence in your own abilities. The Theatre program at Douglas College is an intensive, full-time two-year program designed to provide students with professional training and education in speech, movement, acting, acting for film and theatre history. Performance, training, and theatre history are the foundations of the program. Find out more about the Theatre program at Douglas College.
This intensive two-year Stagecraft & Event Technology diploma program is designed for students interested in a career within the entertainment industry, and who have some fine arts or technical experience. First-year students study production techniques, stage lighting, computer assisted drafting, prop making, scene painting, scene construction and theatre history. The second-year curriculum includes advanced courses in theatre production, technical direction, stagecraft for film and TV and audio techniques.
