Seasonal influenza, also known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccination each year. Your Health & Safety Committees arrange for flu vaccine clinics each fall at the David Lam and New Westminster campuses.
Influenza Pandemic
Influenza pandemic is a worldwide outbreak of severe influenza (flu). In the event of flu outbreak and potential or actual influenza pandemic Douglas College will implement control measures to prevent exposure of our employees, students, contractors and visitors to the flu virus. The Pandemic Response Team, in conjunction with local health authorities, will closely monitor the evolving situation and provide information updates, awareness, education and preventative measures so that all stakeholders may take steps to protect themselves against flu outbreaks at Douglas College.
