WHMIS
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) provides information about many hazardous materials (or controlled products) used in the workplace. Under WHMIS, workers have the right to receive information about each controlled product they use, including its identity, hazards, and safety precautions. The goal of WHMIS is to reduce injury and disease by communicating specific health and safety information about controlled products so that the information can be used to reduce exposure to hazardous materials.
The overall purpose of WHMIS is to help ensure a safer, healthier workplace. WHMIS training is mandatory for all employees.
Computer based WHMIS training is available for all employees.
