Aboriginal Student Services Centre
Our Services:
- Provide culturally relevant support, information, and counseling for all Douglas College Aboriginal students, faculty, and staff
- Advocacy and mediation for Aboriginal students on campus
- Link students, faculty and staff with the Aboriginal community services, people, and organizations
- Liaison with band, student and staff
- Provide Aboriginal scholarship and grant information, current job postings, events or opportunities by keeping up to date information on our Aboriginal group on mydouglas and website.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for centre and cultural events
- Offer good food and good company at Open House by providing clam chowder soup and bannock in our centre; monthly lunch for students exam times
- Coordinate and attend meetings
- Plan, coordinate, implement and promote cultural events on campus
- Offer Aboriginal students a home away from home
- Work with Elders to support our students, faculty, and staff
