Coursepacks

What is a coursepack, how does it work and how does it save money?

  1. Your instructor prepares course notes and personally selects relevant material from a variety of sources to enhance your studies. Instead of buying a number of different books or photocopying journal articles, the instructor chooses only the information needed. This saves money and it also saves time locating and coping the necessary readings.
  2. The Bookstore pays the copyright fees, organizes the material and prints it on campus. This also saves you time and money. In order to keep costs as low as possible, the store does not print any more than what will sell. If you go to the shelf and find your coursepack is sold out, don't panic! Just fill out the clipboard sheet at the cashiers' counters and more copies will be printed. These additional copies will be available in a couple of days.
  3. Unfortunately, there are no refunds on opened coursepacks (even if you drop your class). Canadian copyright law does not permit it, so make sure you need it before you buy it.
  4. The bottom line is, a coursepack is a valuable educational tool and it is a less expensive alternative to buying several traditional texts. Think about the benefits:
    • You won't need to spend hours photocopying reserve articles.
    • You won't need to buy books just because a couple of chapters are important.
    • You'll pay for only what you need and use in class.
    • You'll be on the legal side of the law.
    • Your coursepack is only available at your College Bookstore!
