It is the first week of classes and my book is not on the shelf. Where is my book?
The Bookstore has 90% of all required texts on the shelf at least one week before the start of classes.
If your book is not here, it's usually outside the control of the Bookstore. Any known information about your missing book is printed on the Stock Updates. In order of frequency, the reasons why your book may not be on the shelf are:
The requisition for the book was received late.
The publisher is out of stock.
The book is out of print or not yet printed.
During this time, the Bookstore continues to check regularly with the publisher, inform the instructor and department about the status of missing books, and post any known information on bulletin boards called Stock Updates . If you can't find your book ask a Bookstore staff member or just fill out the clipboard sheet at the cashiers' counter and we'll ensure your book is on it's way to the store.
The Bookstore apologizes for any inconvenience caused to you by a missing book.
How do I find out when my book will be in?
At the beginning of January, May and September, the Bookstore produces a list of outstanding titles with quantities expected, along with an expected delivery date, on a document called a `Stock Updates'. This information is obtained by the store from the Publishers and is posted daily by 9:30 a.m.. The Stock Updates are posted at each register area. When required books arrive, the information is removed from the Stock Updates posted outside the stores and will be updated on the Website by 9:30 a.m. the next day. Customers are encouraged to check the bulletin boards before waiting in line or check the Website before making an unnecessary trip.
Shelf tags help identify the required or optional materials for your course. Shelves are organized alphabetical by department and then in numerical order by course. If a book is used in more than one level of a course, the book is located in the first occurrence of use (ie PSYC 1200 books are shelved at PSYC 1100 location.) Here's the important information you need to know.
I take my classes at more than one campus. Where do I buy my course book?
Course books are available at their respective campuses.
The New Westminster Store carries course books for the New Westminster Campus.
The David Lam Store carries course books for the David Lam Campus and Distance Education courses.
How does the Bookstore determine the price of a course book and can I find it cheaper somewhere else?
The Bookstore works to provide you with the right book, at the right time, and at the best possible price. The Bookstore is owned and operated by the College and all course materials are priced competitively.
If you think you've found your course book cheaper on-line, there are a few things to consider:
- Are there shipping and handling charges?
- Is the price in US or Canadian dollars?
- Are there customs and duty charges?
- Is the book available now when you need it or will you waste valuable time before the book is actually in your hands?
- If your class is cancelled or you drop the course, what will happen?
- If you decide you don't want the book, will you be able to get a refund?
- If you need to return the book, are there any restocking fees?
- Will you have to pay return mailing charges?
- Are you able to get the book used or do they only sell it new?
Visit the coursepack page for details.
Yes - please see the refund policy for details.
