Steps to Request Services
It is never too Early to start PLANNING!
STEPS TO REQUEST SERVICES
If you are considering studying at Douglas College and you will require services from the Centre for Students with Disabilities start planning early! Some of the services you may need, such as adaptive equipment, adapted textbooks, and interpreting services require many months of planning time. For these services you should complete the steps to request services at least 3 months before the semester start date.
STEP ONE
- Check what programs and courses are offered at Douglas College
- Check out Adult Special Education Programs
- The Admission Requirements to Douglas College
- Attend a free Information Session. Academic Advisors can answer your questions about prerequisites, application and registration procedures, university-transfer options and much more.
You can also phone the Registrar's office to find out more about the Information Sessions.
STEP TWO
Apply to the college on line at or obtain a print copy of the application form from the Registrar's office. If you have questions about applying, call the Registrar's Office at 604-527-5478, TTY 604-527-5317.
STEP THREE
Obtain documentation of disability, to find out more about specific documentation that is required to support your application for disability services.
STEP FOUR
If the class or program in which you are interested requires Assessment Testing for which you may need special accommodations, please contact the Centre for Students with Disabilities
You will need to provide documentation of your disability in order to receive accommodations for assessment testing.
STEP FIVE
If you need funding to cover the costs of your education at Douglas College, please visit Douglas College Financial Aid Office.

- The Financial Programs for Students with Permanent Disabilities
- A large number of scholarships, grants and bursaries for students with disabilities are administered by NEADS(National Educational Association of Disabled Students)
STEP SIX
- When you have finished the first five steps, or if you have any questions, you can phone Reception to arrange a pre-intake appointment with a Facilitator.
