Anna Perelygin - 2005 Co-op Student of the Year
Business Management Diploma - June 2006 Graduate

Anna Perelygin
Business Management Diploma Graduate

Team Co-op is pleased to introduce our third Leong Co-op Award recipient Anna Perelygin, a Business Management Diploma program graduate. Anna decided to change careers from the Information Technology field after realizing that she needed a better work and family life balance.

Initially, she enrolled in the Accounting Management Diploma program. After taking a couple of classes, she discovered that accounting was not where she had a strong interest. During her first Co-op placement as an Administrative Assistant at Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada, a federal government department, Anna was exposed to a variety of duties. She believes that, "a positive attitude, open-mindedness, the ability to take initiative, and willingness to learn" are all-important factors that contributed to her success in the first work-term and later resulted in a work extension.

Currently, she is working full-time as a Research Analyst/Database Specialist. With her past computer experience, Anna created an invoice tracking system that has proven to be time efficient and effective and is still used in the organization. She also volunteers her time organizing social events.

Anna's advice to potential students is this: "I would recommend the Co-op program to any student who wants to build a successful career. In fact, I use every opportunity to promote the program and explain its great benefits. Even though participating in this program might delay graduation by roughly a year, it is really the only downside I can think of. However, the benefits of being a Co-op student are incredible and hard to overestimate."
