Kenneth Ng

Kenneth Ng
Computer Information Systems student
November 2003

Team Co-op is proud to introduce a second year Computer Information Systems student, Kenneth Ng.  Kenneth is conscientious, friendly, hardworking and adapts quickly to any environment.  Last summer, he succeeded in obtaining a placement at Electronic Arts (Canada) Inc. (EA) as a Quality Assurance Game Tester.

"I applied for the Co-op program because I wanted to gain important experience in the work force and to open up opportunities in the company where I was placed.  In addition, I wanted to network with fellow co-workers and employers," said Kenneth.

As a Quality Assurance tester, Kenneth was responsible for testing the games thoroughly to ensure they were bug free.  His daily task was assessing builds and writing up bugs.  He also needed to check regressed bugs, which were fixed by programmers. This ensured that any problems were solved.  In fact, his position was extremely crucial as he was the key in guaranteeing high quality products for customers.

Kenneth enjoys the work environment at EA.  Casual attire is acceptable and open communication is encouraged.  Apart from offering free arcades and games, EA provides excellent physical workout facilities such as a soccer field, a basketball court, and a gym to its employees.  Indeed, everyone is open, approachable, and truly loves their job.

Kenneth has learned a lot at EA.  He became more open and vocal during team meetings and discussions.  His written and verbal communication skills were improved.  He was able to write up clear, concise bug reports and summaries.  His analytical skills and time management skills were strengthened.  Above all, his self-confidence soared.  Kenneth believes that it is a vital asset because a person with high self-confidence radiates a positive image and fosters important relationships in a workplace.

Kenneth highly recommends the Co-op program since it is a great opportunity to get recognized within a company and to gain valuable work experience.  This may be used for future career opportunities.  It also helps to open possibilities into other career paths and to focus on what one really wants to do for a career.
