Lisa Yeung

Lisa Yeung

Commerce student
August 2005

Working in a male dominant industry may be a challenge for most females.  For Lisa Yeung - a second year Commerce student, she does not feel intimidated.  In contrast, she feels very empowered and would like to be part of a male dominant industry again after graduation.

After applying for many positions and attending several interviews, Lisa secured a placement at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in January.  As a Management Trainee, she is responsible for providing good customer service, following up with accounts and customers in rental vehicles, collecting account receivables, answering enquires, making reservations, and performing various administrative duties.

"I have learned a lot at Enterprise.  I learned to multi-task and to work more efficiently.  I have become a better seller.  Above all, I am becoming more confident in confronting people when conflicts arise.  Confronting customers and handling difficult customers are some of the most challenging tasks in my position.  The only way for me to overcome these challenges is to have more confidence in myself and to know that I am doing the right thing.  Persistence is the key.  I will keep trying and doing my very best.  I try not to get down when things don't seem to be working out well."

"Co-op has provided me with great experiences that I will never forget.  It has made me realize certain things that I want in my work environment.  I realize that I want to work with people on a daily basis and I enjoy administrative work.  Most importantly, I would like to continue my studies and to pursue my major in business."

"I encourage every student to participate in Co-op.  It is an excellent way of gaining good work experiences in the field of study that students are interested in.  It allows students to sample different kinds of work in a time frame.  I greatly appreciate all the help that the Co-op Office has provided and would definitely like to do another Co-op term in the near future."
