Service Learning/Volunteering
By volunteering your time you can help organizations in developing countries to make a difference in people’s lives, and make the world a better place.
Zambia Global Leadership Program
As participants in the Zambia Global Leadership Program (an initiative set up by Douglas College's Centre for Campus Life), about 8 students spend three months in the summer volunteering in Zambia in community development, health care, social enterprises, and other areas meshing with their chosen fields of study. For details on the program and the application process, visit the Zanbia Global Leadership Program website.
Canadian and landed immigrant students who go on this service learning abroad program are eligible to apply for the Douglas College International Studies Award and One World International Scholarship. You can also attend a pre-departure session offered by Douglas College International.
Students must complete a Travel Abroad Information Form and sign a completed Emergency Contact Form and a Release of Liability Form. These forms must be dropped off to the attention of Karen Ng at the Douglas College International office at least one month before you leave.
