Regular, Ongoing Tutoring

Students may sign up to work with a peer tutor for the entire term for 50-minute, weekly appointments continuing through the last day of classes.

Our ongoing tutoring sessions are the core of our peer tutoring program and provide you with the best opportunity to develop skills that you can continue to use throughout your academic career.

Why would I sign up for regular, ongoing tutoring?

The goal of regular, ongoing tutoring is to help you gain independent learning skills that you can use in all of your courses. The goal of each of our tutoring sessions is to help you develop skills that you can use on your own. Regular meetings with a tutor allow you to sharpen your skills in the areas you've identified you want to work on.

These are some of the most common reasons we hear for requesting regular, ongoing tutoring:

  • I am taking a class in an area where I don't have very much experience.
  • I have failed this course before, and I want to do better this term.
  • I'm terrible at test-taking, taking notes, and managing my time, and I want to improve.
  • I'd like more guidance in my writing process, including topic selection, thesis development, organization and forming an argument.
  • I'm nervous about the course or the content.
  • I know my study skills need honing in order to keep up with the work.

The regular, ongoing tutoring request forms are available here beginning the first week of classes.
