Cooks Career Training
Did you know 23 million people visited BC in 2004? Tourism and Hospitality is B.C. is the second largest industry. The expected increase in tourism over the next decade should result in 84,000 new jobs, 44,000 of which will be in the food and beverage industry. The hospitality industry needs service minded personnel to meet the demands in this field. This training program will prepare you to work in any of the 8 sectors of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Accommodation, Adventure Tourism and Recreation, Attractions, Events and Conferences, Tourism Services, Food and Beverage, Transportation, and Travel Trade. It will be a combination of classroom training, hands-on training and practical work experience which will give you the opportunity to use your new skills and expose you to potential employers.
You will be trained for employment as a Cook with a strong focus on customer service training. Upon graduation you will be suitable for employment in restaurants, lodges, hospitals, long-term facilities, hotels, catering companies, deli's, coffee shops or fast food restaurants.
This 6-week program consists of:
- 5 weeks of Basic Cook¿s training and Food Services (3 weeks in class and a 2 week practicum)
- 4 days of industry certification where you will receive:
- FoodSafe Level I Certificate
- Responsible Beverage Service Program (Serving It Right) Certificate
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) Certificate
- 1 day of resume writing and cover letter design
You will graduate from this program as a trained cook/hospitality professional who will consistently provide superior customer service and guest satisfaction through positive attitude and service. All materials and manuals are included in the course fee.
