Making a Difference - Now and in the future
You can leave a lasting legacy at Douglas College by establishing an Endowment in your name or in that of a loved one. Endowments can be established with a minimun donation of $10,000 and will be customized to suit your requirements. To assist you in establishing an endowment, you can pledge your donation over three years. Endowment funds are invested for one full year before the interest only is distributed to students, as per the terms of reference.
You can leave a gift to Douglas College in your will or consider using your assets for your charitable gift. You can donate cash, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, term deposits, real estate, art and insurance and, in many cases, realize a tax savings. Capital gains tax has been eliminated on gifts of securities to registered charities, making this the top choice for many people.
You can also name Douglas College as the beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF or pension, or as the recipient of an existing or paid-up life insurance policy.
There are many other ways to plan your giving and we strongly advise you to consult with your financial advisor or real estate planning advisor so as to attain the maximum benefit from your charitable bequest.
Annual Awards
An annual award is distributed in the upcoming academic year to an appropriate student. In conjunction with the Foundation, you can determine the criteria under which the award will be given. A minimum of $500 must be pledged for at least 3 years to establish a named annual fund.
