Program Details
Douglas College has developed degree partnership programs with several Canadian universities. This means that you can earn your bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with all the benefits of attending college.
Degree partnership programs are different than university transfer. Transferring usually involves completing a certain number of credits at college and then submitting a request to the university to give you credit for your college courses. Once you transfer to university you cannot go back to the college to complete additional credits without permission. However, in a Degree Partnership program, you are enrolled at both Douglas and the university at the same time and can take courses at both institutions. It's much more flexible, with less paperwork for you! Plus:
- Save money - college courses cost less, so your degree will cost less than if you attended four years of university.
- More options - being enrolled at two institutions means you'll get access to a greater variety of courses, instructors and learning opportunities.
- Classes close to home - for many of you, Douglas is close to home. Plus, onlineoptions from universities might mean no commute at all!
- More face-to-face time - smaller classes at Douglas mean more interaction with instructors and fellow students.
New SFU - Douglas Degree Program in Arts or Science
This partnership program allows you to move freely and easily between Douglas College and Simon Fraser University to complete the requirements of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) OR a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from SFU. The Registrars' Offices at Douglas College and SFU will automatically track your progress by exchanging information on your academic record at the end of each semester. Designated advisors will ensure you receive the best information possible about your degree requirements and course options. In addition, your access to student services (e.g., UPass for access to public transit, medical/dental, student housing if registered in a sufficient number of SFU courses per year) will be increased. For more information, see the SFU - Douglas Degree Program website.
Thompson Rivers Open Learning/Douglas/TRU-OL Psychology Degree Partnership
If you’ve taken some college or university classes, want a degree but aren’t sure about your current program, why not consider the TRU-OL/Douglas Psychology Degree Partnership program?
This program, which is run in collaboration with Thompson Rivers University (TRU), allows you to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from TRU without having to move to Kamloops, while taking up to 105 credits from Douglas College in the Lower Mainland. The TRU portion of the program is five courses (15 credits), which can all be completed online.
What makes the Douglas/TRU-OL Psychology Degree program beneficial is you are in control of your own education. You can stay close to home, transfer your credits from other post-secondary institutions, set your own schedule (study part-time, full-time, or accelerated), and best of all, apply to start your degree right away, because we have intakes in each of the Fall, Winter, or Summer semesters.
Questions? Contact us, and we’ll get back to you within a week. Also, we can make arrangements for you to visit and speak to faculty and students.
University of Calgary/Douglas College Partnership Program in Community Rehabilitation
This dynamic program allows you to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Community Rehabilitation from the University of Calgary without leaving Douglas. Graduates of CFCS programs, such as Classroom and Community Support, Child and Youth Care or Therapeutic Recreation, receive two years of credit towards this degree and enter the program at the third-year level. Alternatively, if you have 20 University Transfer courses, or an Associative Arts Degree, you may also be eligible to receive two years of credit. The program is very flexible - with online classes and weekends courses - so that working professionals can take advantage of this upper-level curriculum. For more information, see the Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation Degree website.
